 Negation of Negativity

It’s kinda hard to put up with a person who doesn’t know what he or she is really doing, as if the life in that body, and the perception of life outside, is like a blur one only reacts to animalistically, with no real sentience when it comes to dealing with other people. Such a person usually becomes hurtful to others, for the awareness of abstract values of rightness and wrongness becomes incomprehensible and nonexistent in the exercise of purely animalistic and instinctive living. Another characteristic of such a person is pure egocentricity, and the appearance of servile civility in front of society, hence, on the surface, such a person really acts and thinks decently.

However, when dealing with, for example, relatives, all manner of civility is gone, replaced by the egocentricity I have just described, and with whom I am now dealing with. It has become a habit to abuse verbally the person closest to them. Or worse. Hence, doers of domestic abuse look dignified to the community, as they let out their evilness in private. Or dispense with embarrassment altogether. I greatly suspect, the Enemy is using this susceptible person to get to my goat, so to speak. Is it because I am doing so much good that I am being singled out for this all out attack?

It takes a great amount of strength from me not to send this person to the nearest nursing home I can find, in spite of the great toll it places on me in resisting the evil the mouth spouts every now and then, and not to mention the inconveniences done around the house and to our personal belongings. I still feel gratitude for the past good deeds this person has done but my suffering is already affecting my work performance and my boss is not going to be Santa Claus in my lifetime. If worse comes to worse, I might find myself on the streets again scouting for vacancies.

My wife is pitying me for my situation and has counseled me many times to just do away with looking after the source of my anger, but I am impelled to keep an eye on this person until my obligation is done. It is a difficult time for me now, in this time that I have so many responsibilities to take care of, parenting, career planning and building, taking care of my frail health. I am taking Lookin’s advice and somehow, it’s giving me a come from behind remedy so far.

Wish me luck and I’ll keep ya posted.

How Can One Stop the Devil’s Work?

Let me get this straight first: anything done by another person to another person that causes evil consequences cannot be the sole action by the doer, although of course, in the law and the eyes of society, the doer is entirely responsible. A person, although possessing of free will, can be influenced by dark forces, entities that are bent on causing destruction on men. They can’t directly destroy, so they use susceptible individuals to do their work. If a nice song can place you on a good mood, or a witty quotation can make you realize profound wisdom, how much more can a weak person resist the whisperings from a more subtle, often time unbeknownst enemy that has knowledge of your weaknesses and desires, and has the power to use them against you?

I have encountered a person who easily can cause rage in any person that one encounters. You know, unbridled anger is one of the sins that the enemy would want to spread, for this emotion is one of the most immediately destructive of the seven capital sins. The often educated, decent look of this person belies the enraging capability that I don’t know whether that one really knows what that one is doing or is acting on invisible suggestion. Curious, I traced this person’s personal history.

That person has experienced cruelty from the mother, who took revenge on the poor soul for being left by the father. I think the mother made every moment with her child a living purgatory, thwarting that one’s every wish, endeavor, and search for happiness. Eventually, that person was able to escape after persuading the father to send this person to boarding school.

Now, after being a retired professor, which all the more accentuated the obnoxiousness, that person has been continuing the forbears’ damaging act by engendering anger in others, doing the most illogical acts unexpected of the member of the academe and spouting hurtful and scandalous words whenever being confronted by kith and kin. This in turn adversely affected that family, where more than one offspring turned out destructive lives.

Now, meeting this person, how can one undo such pitiful history where I truly believe, the enemy has seeded therein the dragon’s teeth. How can one act and feel in the face of such ignorant hate and subconscious yearning for revenge for a life made to suffer? Is there anyone there who can give me a satisfactory answer because even one has faith in the army behind him, the power of the opposing force has begun to cow the spiritual bravery that one used to have in abundance?

I wish I can get some answers, because, I don’t know how long I can hold in the face of the onslaught of this person who has come within the orbit of my existence, and of whom I suspect of being used by the infernal forces to sow hatred and chaos in our vicinity. I try hard to understand, forgive, and avoid this person, but it is as if the opportunities of us running into each other just happen as if orchestrated. And to make matters worst, as I was writing this, computer screen was going haywire, even though it is supposed to be okay.

I find comfort in what Our Lord Jesus said on the Cross before expiring for the forgiveness of Mankind: “God, forgive them, for they know not what they’re doing.”
